ARTIST STATEMENT

The work of art on these subsequent pages attempts to highlight the cultural and archaeological significance of countries at war - focusing on religious and cultural heritage - as opposed to the Western Media’s persistent focus on religious fanaticism.

Jewellery rarely branches into the unsettled sphere of politics and this untapped potential, which quite bizarrely has only ever been minutely explored, is quite significant.

For those of us who are politically charged; jewellery can provide a vessel to communicate ideas, to vocalize our solidarity for marginalized groups and to allow us to publicly support a cause we feel passionate about.

With a  medium so prevalent in all of our lives the dream is that jewellery can, one day, publicly display our collective soidarity in times of war. In times when, more than ever, we must unite as a force for good.

The artist uses any material relevant to the context of the work and research is continually on going.
